Goring the Gourds

On the Saturday before the 31st, we had the chance to spend some time with Ralph and Laura at their annual Pumpkin Carving extravaganza.  Full of guts and gore, it’s always a good time to dig in to a pumpkin.   It was a fun evening of hanging out with friends both new and old,  and creating some fun faces.  Brendan had never carved before, and he thoroughly enjoyed it!  Todd gave him a hand with how to place his original design on the pumpkin, but after that he did it all by himself–and was quite adamant about it.  It was hilarious to watch him sawing away at the side of it, all Edward Scissorhands-esque.  Chloe, who had been all talk about carving her “baby punkin,” drew a few scribbles on it before becoming distracted with the other kids galavanting throughout the house.

I feel slightly guilty that I don’t have any pictures of the other masterpieces of the night, but I guess I was trying to capture the moment for the budding artists in our family.  The talented Sarah Galvan snapped many a shot of the whole crew, so I know the night was recorded in history.

Here are some shots from our perspective:

We had a fantastic night!
